Given Shane's great idea of posting Ginny Ecksteins awesome Ancistrus article in "Plecos: The article that started it all", I looked out a few blasts from the past.

PFK July 88 p90
PFK July 88 p90
First off is from the July 1988 issue of PFK which has the UKs first as its cover fish but buried deep in the news section is this gem.

Yes, that's Mr ScotCat / @AJames entering a North American darter and for my money, the nicest fish in the show even given the cats.

Around about the same time as the article in Shane's post, this was I think the first "proper" L-number to appear on the PFK cover but still a few years before l-numbers gained English language usage.

Note the exchange rate, £1.90 versus US$4.50!

From the same issue, the NACG/CSG(UK)/CSG's Andy Duck and Trevor Morris winning national prizes with plecos. Yes, those really are their real-life signatures published for the nation! :-)

Lee Finley sending me the David Sands book. 1994?

Lee's trip to Brazil would be the first collection and breeding of a blind cave Ancistrus.

Erica is suggesting we all do a history of the catfish hobby for the next CatCon.

@Shane, Is the Mary Power in Lee's letter "Mary Eleanor Power" of freshwater trophic structures biology? If so, she's right beside me now (well, about 60 minutes away).

Thanks, Eric
