Just want to confirm that these are Ancistrus cf Cirrhosis and not one of the other obscure brown coloured Ancistrus.

The male isn't super cooperative, so I will get better photos later if needed.

The male continues to be evasive, but the female is very happy to come out and about.
Theyre small, smaller than I'd expect. They're at least a year old and the female is smaller than my corydoras eques.

Their appearance is consistent with common BNs (), but there are similar brown bristlenoses too. If your fish are captive bred, they are most likely common BNs. If they are wild caught, it's a bit of a crap shoot in my opinion, unless you have some collecting locality info.

I'll have to ask the local where he got these and if he knows.

Yeah okay, so they're about 8 months old, he got them from a lfs labeled as "suckerfish" he mistook them as snowball plecos because as babies they apparently had bright white spots on them.

Given that info, can be fairly certain they'd be cf cirrhosis.

Just wanted to confirm as theyre gonna be split into 2 tanks.

My red calico ancistrus pair had bred but the male died during the heat wave this summer, so I was going to keep a baby in another tank and put the new female with it, and put the new male with the mother. Just to avoid mom-baby breeding. So I wanted to be sure they were the same species and not mixing here.
