Cf Cirrhosis Fry

Post by MissNoodle »

My ancistrus cf cirrhosis have spawned twice.

First was with both my red calico, but the male passed away due to a heat wave shortly after.
All fry from this are red calico, mostly longfins. Very cute.
Since we lost their beloved father, we are keeping this one shown below. Special little one.

These are some of the other fry from that brood.

I got a new male, which in turn has spawned with the red calico female.
The fry are all dark, like the wild colour male, interesting patterns that will likely change but fun to see. Excited to see how they turn out.

Of course, they're breeding without any help or such, they have driftwood and have found a hollow and fry just pop up lol

Some of these fry are marked so neat, would be cool if they stayed this pattern, but unlikely.

Wish you had been able to make it to CatCon, you would have loved it.

Pleco fry almost always outshine parents when it comes to the look. It is more than just pure cuteness.

Over the years I have lost a spawner and had to replace it with on of the offspring. According to Barbie, it takes at least 5 generations before there is a need for new genes for many pleco species.

I've been missing out on lots haha missed out on the big rainbowfish convention up my way as well.

No extra spending money, so I'd have been kicking myself each time hahahahahaha

In regards to the BN here, the red male passed away, the baby from him and the red female I plan to keep in another tank with another female BN unrelated. Perks of having many tanks, there's room for these things.
