I bred some of them and kept 1 that I grow up.... turned out to be a female and a friend of mine needed one for his male. He was able to breed it in less than a month after he got it. It was ~15 months old when she bred..... I keep a group in a community tank and have bred them several times..... but I always pull the eggs because I know the fry wouldn't survive well. So yes. it is posable to breed them in a community tank.

Take care,
Chuck

I agree with stuby. My L397 started breeding at about 18 months old, +/- a month.

I bred them in "community" tank with corydoras sterbai, ancistrus, a ram and lemon tetras. Fry survived just fine but second spawn I moved cave since while the fry might survive catching them is neigh impossible in a arranged tank.

My group was about 2 years old when they started to breed and now they won't stop so much that I have had to separate them since they produce more spawns than I can possibly handle(about 1 spawn per month).

What water parameters was your community tank?

Soft water, temp was around 27-28 degrees, ph 7~.
