I am not certain, as your fish maybe has a bit of growing to do, but I'm leaning towards you fish being the new species. Check out

I'm gonna continue the topic here on its own post
My Bolivian is full grown, I've had him well over 1.5 years now and he has not grown past the 2.5"-3" he's at now.
I don't know where the store got him from, but I do know their rams are also expensive lol I paid $17 for him.
For all I know he's a hybrid.
This was him when I first got him
Couple new photos (ones from the other post)

One in natural light while flaring.

I'd say a standard, but very nicely coloured male Bolivian Ram. Looking at the reply from jams in
this post, the male in the comparison photo is similar to yours. Is your 2.5"-3" total length (including tail)?
Thanks
Martin

2.5 standard length, tail pushes it a little past 3"
