Bamboo caves advice

Hi everyone wanted some advice in these bamboo caves I bought on ebay. The seller said they were boiled. When I received them they stunk.
After soaking in a bucket changing water twice a day for a month they still stink.
Any tricks to use them.
All my caves are from Erics pleco shop first time trying the natural caves.

FWIW, I buy bamboo at garden centers at 5' to 8' lengths for about $7-$10 USD.
Bamboo does stink, but the outdoor should fade.
Cheers, Eric

Sounds normal like Eric said. They tubes will get slimy and smelly but the plecos love them. You will eventually start to see what looks like hair laying on the bottom as the bamboo breaks down.

So nice to get your message!
It's been a month and I just still don't trust the bamboo

All of the locally sourced wood in my aquariums developed a smelly slime. It goes away after a while. The plecos Will eat it. I have maple, apple, Madrone, Bamboo and alder. I have not boiled any of it without problems.
