Pictus Catfish

Post by IanoYG »

Hi everyone,

I am planning on setting up a 200l (32g) aquarium in the autumn. I am running into conflicting information on the size if aquarium I would need for Pictus. Is this an okay size? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Assuming 200L (100x40x50cm) then that's OK for one adult. They're better in groups when young. I would say 48x18x18" for 3 or 4 adults.

Hi,

I have already maintained 2 in a 200l and I find it really too small. They are great swimmers, a tank of at least 150cm in front or even more should be a minimum.

Their size seems to depend on what and how much they are fed and how much space they have. Our Peruvian variety pictus reach 4.5 to 5.5 inches, Colombians 6 to 8 inches.
