Tank size and cohabiting

I currently have a tiny brislenose in a 57L tank, I also have a L128 and a L204 in 60L. I would like to add a L273 and a L046.
So my question is, could they all live in the same tank happily? If so what size tank (with other fish to) would be best?

Hi MiniMellow,

Welcome to PlanetCatfish!

To answer your question, with your two tanks being what they are (in US gallons, about 15 and 16 gallons respectively), neither of those tanks will be a long term solution for either your or your . And don't even think about keeping a growing happy for long in those tanks. These fish get much too big. The other issue I see is this: If I were keeping L204 and L046, (which I have in the past but I don't currently have), I would keep them at around 27C-29.5C. I don't know what L273 or L128 prefer (other than what you can read in the CLOGs and BLOGs here), but when I keep bristlenoses, assuming yours is a common Ancistrus, I'd be keeping them at around 23-25C. I know that's not a huge difference, and you could probably put them all together at 26C, but none of them would be really happy I suspect.

My two cents is keep the bristlenose in the 57 and maybe get another bristlenose of opposite sex if you want to try and breed them. Get a bigger tank (110L or more, with a long or "low" profile rather than a tall profile, to provide more floor space) for your L128 and L204. Don't get any until you get a much larger tank. The zebra (L046) would be okay in either the 57 or 60L tank, but because of the temperature difference, I wouldn't keep it with the Ancistrus.

Good luck,
Eric
