Please help solve this mystery 😊 I adopted two corys and I was told they were melanistius but I believe they may be leucomas. (one in first photo) I am looking for more. A local pets store was able to order in "spotted corys" with no Latin name. I received photos of what came in. (2nd and 3rd photos)
I am thinking they are Ambiacus but I'm not sure. Can you please identify the two types of corys.
My biggest question is will they shoal together since they look almost identical? My pair needs friends.

Corydoras leucomelas (short snouted fish) and Corydoras agassizii (straight snouted fish).

Thank you 😊 Will they shoal together or are they too different? I can't find any leucomelas locally or online right now in Canada.
The store that ordered the "spotted corys" said Agassizi were listed as a seperate species than the spotted so I thought maybe they were ambiacus. It's been confusing lol

As for whether these two will swim together, the answer is probably yes. I can't guarantee it, but if they are the only two corys you have, they will probably hang out together.

For what it's worth, Corydoras ambiacus and Corydoras agassizii are very similar and some say they may be a single species.

Cheers, Eric

I also have skunks and pandas in this tank as well. They do sit with the skunks sometimes. Do you think it's wise to take a chance on the other corys or will they be okay as a pair with the species I have? I just want what is best for my fish. 😊 When I took them in I didn't know finding more would be so difficult.
