Looking for Info on Wallago attu and Friends!

Hey everyone,
I’ve been diving into the world of Asian catfishes lately, and I’m super curious about some of the standout species from the region. One that’s caught my eye is Wallago attu - that massive, predatory beast with the crazy mouth and spiky teeth! I hear it can hit 2 meters, which is wild for a home aquarium (not that I’m planning to squeeze one into my 55-gallon tank anytime soon, haha). But I’d love to know more about it—like, has anyone kept juveniles, and what’s their care like before they outgrow everything?
I’m also interested in smaller Asian catfish options that could work in a community tank. Maybe something like Pseudolaguvia or Hara jerdoni (those tiny stone cats look so cool!). Are there any species you’d recommend for a 60-liter setup that won’t munch on 10-20mm schooling fish like rasboras? I’d love to hear your experiences - care tips, tank mates, feeding, whatever you’ve got!

Hi danielcraig,

Welcome to PlanetCatfish!

I can't comment on the big fish, but I keep both Akysis and Erethistes (Hara) jerdoni. Both genera should be okay in community tanks.

Cheers, Eric
