I know this is supposed to be regarding Catfish but I am sure some of you have plants in your tanks. Has anyone got any tips on the best plant food to use?

I am currently using weekly - ESHa Products Pro-Phyll Tonicum and Crypto-Plus, and then adding Leaf Zone which is Iron and Potassium.

Any other complete plant foods i could use instead???

Heres a pic of my tank:

Or u can see my fish and tank at: http://groups.msn.com/SouthendTalkofthe ... snw?Page=1

Anyone got any comments... Thankyou

IME, fertilizers are only necessary if you have dense plant growth, more than 2.5 watts/gal of lighting and are using pressurized CO2. Otherwise, the fertilizer simply stimulates the growth of algae.

What Dinyar says is right, the plants only need fertilizer when they are growing so vigorously under bright light they require the supplements - that's when they need the CO2 also, it all fits together. It looks like you have some anubias there, they're good for low light tanks. I would think a little bit of fertilizer here and there shouldn't hurt, but wouldn't think you need a weekly regimen. Cheers!
