HELP! Ancistrus red mouth parts!

Just discovered this nasty infection on the mouth of my ancistrus.
Is this mouth rot ? and is there any way of treating it at such a late stage.?

mouth rot is normaly reference to Flexibacter bacterium. which it could bethe start of, but it's unlikely. IMO your Ancistrus (looks more like a
Chaetostoma) has contracted a bacteria infection of some form.
Best response quarantine and start a course of myxazin on 12 hour cycle rather than 24 hour(explained on the bottle).
Have you had the fish long? is it still eating?

Iâ??ve only just received him in the last 48 hours.
I did not collect, someone else did so I could not examine b4 buying.(return a problem)
Have Quarantined the fish and treated with Protozin, but myxazin sounds more appropriate for this situation.
Yes he eats.

yep it's a chaetostoma sp.
Looking at aqualog L188a is the closest But not perfect. Might be one for the cat-elog Jools?
Have a look in the cat-elog for general care for bull dog species as it's slightly different to ancistrus.

Are you sure it isn't a female Ancistrus claro? Its shape and mouth shape remind me quite a bit of mine. Hopefully the medications will help it heal. I would probably do a 20% water change before the addition of each dose of meds, if it was mine, as a precautionary measure.

The one that died was supposed to be a male for the female I have so a ID would be handy for finding a mate..

My mistake after see the second pictures is a Ancistrus sp. from above it looked like a chaetostoma, I will pay more attention one day
