thank you i live in an area where all you can find is common cat fish ,im looking for bagarius species and electric cats or the stinging liver cats or that tanganika cat thats all black and has a white strip on the dorsal fin also does any one know the name of the last mentioned. thanx inadvance bruce

Are you referring to Synodontis granulosis?

perhaps he means Synodontis petricola
that one too has a white stripe on the dorsal; up front!
esp babies, Burundi's and sp "Giants" from Tanzania have very obvious white bands on the dorsal.

If it's the granny you like, start saving lots of ca$h or have a nice talk with your boss on paycheck raises....

yes thats it syn, granulosis, you guys are great this website is great .
.i saw one about 2years ago for 250$ and did not have enough to pull the trigger . now i want somthing rare, to keep alone .i mean could you imagine buying one for 200$to500$ and haveing a 10.00 nigraventis kill it . but that has always been a fish of dreams and if you dont know its name exept its a syn, from tanganyka and black with 1 white stripe on its dorsal.dealers just look at you and go huuu
