Can catfish dry up?

Post by mshift286 »

hi everybody. sorry, but i am someone who knows nothing about catfish. i was under the impression that catfish could actually dry up, and when put back into water, be revived. is this true? please write back. stating your sources would be great. (my friends won't believe me otherwise.)

Nope, they can't do that. Many catfishes will die if they are exposed to air for long periods. Even those that breathe atmospheric oxygen and can survive for long periods out of water cannot survive prolonged drying, as in this thread.
