Can someone tell me what this is?

Can anyone tell me anything about my catfish? I caught him in a stream in central Virginia, and he was only 1.5 inches long. He is now about 4 inches.

No, he lives in a big fish tank.
I put him in that bowl to transport him, so dont worry
