Hi,

I brought two Rams and as they were not of good quality they died, my local fish shop replaced them and again, 1 died the other i still have, although is hard to keep....

Still thin but very active and a great little character.

I then got two large males which looked alot better, I have had them for just over a month now but they again now seem to be struggling.

1 is covered in a Velvet coating which i am treating but the other is covered worse and looks like it has dropsy.....

Water is at 27C, 120ltr tank with good filteration, community tank with loads of plants and bog wood.

Water is about 25 nitrate, 0 nitrite, between 14-21D (hardness) about 6d (carbonate Hardness) ad bout 6.8-7.6PH readings done with an Esha Aqua Test kit.

I feed with normal dry food each day and once or twice a week bloodworm.

Water changed about 25% twice a week.

What can i do to save them???????

Im based in Southend on Sea, Essex, UK.

Any tips or if these dont survive any other Dwarf Cichlids I could get and if so where from....

Paul

I am terrible with diseases, but if you lose these I'd suggest getting rams from a breeder, not a store. Rams being brought into the US are of terrible quality in most cases it seems, I've heard many who have problems with them. I would imagine the UK gets basically same fish. If you go to a good breeder, or even just a friend who has breeding rams, shouldn't be hard to get a few good ones.
