Where to hold a plec?

I was catching my Royal Plec the other day and it totally tore up my net. Initially I had tried to grab it by hand, but it kept thrashing out (I didn't want to squeeze too hard!). Is there any place on a plec you can grab that will immobolize them?

Royals are pretty pokey little buggers. I wouldn't risk bodily harm to both you and the fish by picking it up. Best way to catch a fish like that without sacrificing a net is with an appropriately sized plastic jug or cup.

I use one of those breeding tanks with the vents in the side.

What i normally do is to lure them to one corner. Use 2 hands if possible to press both their side of the body, make sure it doesnt throw itself around, then carry it up!

easy way is with some sort of tube, you must wait until he/she comes in, and then simply put the net on one side, and lift the other side...
i hope you have understood me..

I have also go them to swim directly into the bag by placing the bag directly on the bottom of the tank. This way you just pick up the bag, empty out some water and you are away..

I would be very careful picking up plecos, I have seen them clamp down if with their pectoral fins if you grab them on the side which can be very painful... for both them and you!!
