After much time in the AMNH library, I'm happy to announce all 39 plates from Hamilton 1822, An Account of the Fishes Found in the River Ganges and its Branches are now online here: http://www.lalkaka.com/gallery/hambuch . The accompanying text has been available for a while here. The book is in the public domain, so you feel free to use the plates as you wish.

I was scanning a copy with a bad moiré pattern. This shows on a few plates. The labeling of the plates is also messed up, so correlating figures to species is tricky. I will try and work through the labels later.

Hope you enjoy. The engravings are really quite beautiful.

Really beautiful! I just love those old engravings of (cat)fish. Any idea of where i can find similar pictures online of SA cats.

Well done Rusty!

There is a very small number for SA cats on NEODAT (look for references by Kner & Shomburgk, as these are the only ones with the illustrations included).
