Hi!
I read this article and had a chat with somebody who ownes Panaques and it sounds really really weird to my ears.
1. Why would he think a 15 cm Panaque builds a 2.5 cm wide tunnel in the debris? When theres horseheaded loaches and Botias in the same tank who are much better candidates for tunnels?
2. Why does he think the fry is from the Panaques and not the 10xL59 in the tank?
maybe im too sceptic, but id like to see a picture of a bigger young to make sure this isnt a "false" report.

Anybody know of any updates to this story? I emailed the guy the other day but no response as of yet.

Hi,
I know the update, that nobody believes, the young fish in the filter are Panaque, but Ancistrus, living in the same tank.
And the channels in the ground, ... how shuld such a big catfish dig such small tubes?
Maybe the loaches, but not the Panaque.
A very challenging report...

My email was answered today. Here it is:
Hi Clay,
I really don't know, since they are hiding somewhere. The last time I saw them clearly was two months ago (sized about 2.5 cm) and the size of the head seemed like a Panaque to me. Once I get another glance of them, I will definitely take some shots for our site. It is not difficult because even when I tried to clean the filter compartment there are about 10 cm of debris in it which makes cleaning impossible.
George
Hopefully we will find out more

ok, and to me and all the other pleco freaks I know the fry looks like young
Ancistrus.
Sorry, but reports of this style are not serious.
Why no better photo of the young fish, when they´ve been in the filter tank? This would have been no problem.
And I do not believe this guy, because he knows, that successfully spawning of
Panaque would have been a little sensation in the aquaristik world...
And if I know, that I have achieved a little sensation, I _will_ be able to bring better documentations and proofs.
Sorry, but stories similar to this appear monthly in (aquaristik) internet... up to now only bubbles...
