Hi!
It seems that he has a very small mouth which would make me lead to think it is L201 Hypancistrus inspector... also that big eye is really inspector like...
If you could make a pic shot of the mouth and teeth...
Or compare it with the teeth of the Hypancistrus sp L129 that is by his side, if they are the same no possible doubt it is an Hypancistrus inspector...
Cheers

Shot in the dark, but could it be a peppermint bristlenose? I'm new at my favourite fish

I think as HH, this looks like a youngster smaller then 5 cm (2")...take a look in the mouth to be sure.

No way that this is an Ancistrus
I made the last pic lighter and think the membrane at the dorsal fin is missing...my guess is H.inspector also.

As I have both L-007, L-007a(goldspot lepracanthicus galaxis) and L-201 , I must say that particularly from the last picture it looks just like a hypancistrus inspector and would not have guessed on the lepracanthicus galaxis but since you guys pointed out the mouth in the second shot and the way the fish positions itself I am starting to think it may be. The juveniles of some species can really throw you for a loop though.
There is no way I would imagine this fish look like an adult L galaxis:
L-007

L-007a
Lastly - is there an occurance of lepracanthicus galaxis near the Rio Magdalena ?
And one more: Any chance it may be a juvenile Baryancistrus niveus?
Thanks
