This is a suggestion for the Administrator's of the cat e-log database, On the Cat e-log data sheets what about adding another topic that has its difficulty to keep section.
For example for myself I am very new to this hobby (catfish) I have had all sorts of fish for many years and have decided to settle with catfish, What I need to know is where to start, what catfish are easier to keep than others. What is a good catfish for a beginer to learn from. I have had a pair of common bristlenose breed in one tank, I looked in one night when feeding and saw them all over the tank. I would appreciate any feedback on this topic.

The ease of maintaining any given species is not a cut and dried affair that one can easily shoehorn into categories. It depends in part on the quality of the water in your area, among other things.

I would agree with Silurus, I mean, a RTC is easy to keep until it outgrows your house. The point is that not all aquaria are the same, not even all community aquaria. A lot of people have trouble with plecos that a lot of other people do not.

Here in Scotland I have to put a lot of effort into keeping lacustrine african Synos. Black water fishes from deepest darkest asia or parts of south america are a piece of cake, but would turn their fins up in a london based fishkeepers "basic" set-up. I have no idea how these changes may occur in somewhere like Oz!

What am thinking of doing in the medium term is allowing a lot of rating buttons and possibly even feedback where keepers of an individual species (past or present) can leave their own personal view. That way it can get specific, but otherwise the cat-elog has to remain cogniscent of a global audience.
