Our favorite ariid should now be Hexanematichthys seemanni (note the correct spelling of the specific epithet).

Do you have a reference for the change? On what basis was it made? Are other species affected?

It came out in CLOFFSCA, largely as a result of Alexandre Marceniuk's doctoral dissertation on ariid systematics.
CLOFFSCA (or the Catalog of Fishes) should list changes for all the New World species. I'm not too sure about the Old World species.
