I am a catfish
"noob"
I was looking for a fish to buy for a 10 gallon tank and I saw some really cool looking catfish. I read in some places that you need bigger tanks for catfish but i was wondering if there were any catfish that would fit in my tank well. Can you give me any recommendations

If I cant fit any catfish in the 10 gallon then how can I make or get an affordable tank for catfish

There are a number of small catfish commonly available that would fit a 10-gallon.
Otocinclus for one. You could also probably fit in a few
Corydoras in there.

To house
a tank 48"L X 24"W X 18"H would be a good size. That works out to about 90 gallons. I wouldn't reccomend trying to house any other shovelnose species. IMO, it will be much cheaper/easier to buy a tank than trying to get glass cut, siliconed etc.

Does the Sorubim lima need to be in a small group? If so, how many would you suggest?

Sorry for the triple post
My mom said no to the shovel noses because the tank would be "too big".
So I was wondering how many small catfish I could put in my 10 gallon tank instead.
Thanks
