Looking for a Pim

Well, I really like RTCs but they get big. I'm in no position for a 500- 1000 gallon tank (or pond) to even start keeping one happy. The thing that really hooked me was a small "kitten" begging for food at the LFS. Not many fish do that.

Is there a smaller species that exhibits similar behavior? Feeding habits? It really dosent even need to be a pim, but a foot or smaller. I'm not even looking to get this anytime soon, but i'd sooner be able to get a few 12 inch fish than a 4 foot monster!

Hoplos will do that, e.g. and .

They're probably the most intelligent of the smaller catfish.

Many of the Pseudopimelodidae will do this. THe link above is one example.

They can be VERY engaging, particularly when it's feeding time. Go to the Cat-ELog and take a look at this family. Plenty of interesting species to choose from, from damned expensive P. fowleri to the much more common B. ranius

EDIT: Ooops, that's Cephalosilurus fowleri not Pseudopim...

Larger Ageneosids will "beg" to be fed too, but I just can't afford the food bill for a fish like these!
