is there a formula to figure out how many gallons a tank is. I was given a tank recently of an irregular shape, I can measure it but what do I multiply the last figure by? I also want to find a way to more accurately determien how many gallons are in my Pond outside, I estimate 1200gallons but would like a reliable way of determining this.

Figure out the number of cubic inches and then use this: http://www.metric-conversions.org/volum ... allons.htm.

http://www.drhelm.com/aquarium/areajava.html here is a conversion table that works out tank size,heating requirements,filtering needs etc etc.
