sure that's 'THE' hybrid ?? How do you see that ? Any idea about the maximum size and it's temperament when full grown.

Do you mean a hybrid with Pseudoplastystoma fasciatum or a tigrinum ? (as it is with fasciatum, boy, this will will be getting BIIIGGGG)

Although hybrids are bad for the hobby, I'll give this guy a good home. (It's not mine for the moment, but I can have it for free)

Hybrids between the two genera look slightly different, depending on which genus is the male or female.
The color pattern is reminescent of either genera, and the head shape is sort of somewhere in between.

I did some research on the hybrid you suggested. I found a picture, but it's totally different from the fish I have.



Or are the hybrids that variable in appareance ?

The two different kinds you posted refer to offspring from differing sexes of the Phractocephalus parent. I don't know which is which, though.

as silurus says a hybrid..
i have seen a number of these over the years (the first type posted) and they seem to stop growing in length at around 60/65cm or thereabouts but some get quite portly in girth
i believe that they were developed by some one, wanting the characteristics but not the size.
and they do keep there predortory traits
