Trip to Africa Northwest

I am currently in the US on vacation and had a chance to meet up with fellow PC Mod Barbie in Seattle. Barbie was over from Spokane for an open house event at wholesaler Africa Northwest. I tagged along with Barbie and her boss Cameron and we had a fun day.
Barbie will kill me, but she had her eyes closed in the only photo I got of us.
The holding facility. They must have about 15 rows like this. The two bottom rows are 40 breeders and the top 30 breeders. No central filtration system. Just daily 90 percent water changes.
The plant aisle. I was very impressed with the quality and variety of aquatic plants. I have noticed that most US fish stores have pretty good aquatic plant selections. Most South American fish stores only a very limited selection of plants.
I had to get a picture of the fish boxes. Amazing that all these fish are shipped from all over the world...

ROFL! Nah, I won't kill you, I'm not exactly photogenic, so it's not going to matter, one way or the other ;)
The fish we ordered that day won't come in til midweek next week, so I guess I have to wait to take home my little cichlids. Guess I should warn Bob I ordered them NOW, eh? LOL! I'm lucky I'm so spoiled, or one of these days when I packed in yet another bag of fish he'd be handing me my luggage!
The tanks were far from new HH, and although we saw quite a few neat fish, I don't know if pictures of them would have turned out, as there were no lights on the tanks at all. I do completely agree with your sentiment, I too would have much preferred pics of fish, rather than myself! It really was a fun day though, in spite of my feeling puny

Paul,
She is that dream. What other women stares at a shipment of Sturisoma with you and says, "Wow, I need those." Notice her clipboard? She is placing fish orders.

Yeah I often wish my wife was into fish. She literally wants nothing to do with them.
I very often wish my wife rather than asking: "What did you spend?"
She would ask: "What'd you get?" And follow up with: "Let me see!"

My wife asks the last two questions. Then spoils it by asking the first.

LOL! OK, I guess I've got a bit better, at least my wife doesn't know which fish are expensive and which aren't!
In response to the first question I often answer; "not much", knowing full well "much" can be a very relative response!
OK Shane, back to the original topic: What fish did you see there?

Speaking of price....I bought 4 albino BN plecos at a lfs, and while they weren't the cheapest (13 bucks each), I had waited long enough for them, and I wanted them despite the cost.
So my mom comes home and sees 4 of them. Awww, how cute, how much were they?
So I tell her (honestly, the real price. Never be honest about price. Unless you have stapled the receipt to your forehead, just don't.) and she flipped. Yes, Mom, I spent over 40$ on fish that may well turn out to have one breeding pair and will, in essence, pay for themselves.
Why wasn't Mom with me at the pet store? Cause she was up in Sedona, a tourist trap area, and was putting the wraps on a 350$ shopping spree.
Whoa nelly. Real prices, anyone?
