Anyone have experience with FBF ?

Hello there,
does anyone have experience with FBF, or Fluidized Bed Filters (using sand as floating/whirling filter medium)?
These seem to be much more efficient (size vs filtering capacity) than any of the alternative filter types used, and are apparently becoming rather succesfull in places (e.g. shops) where there's too much fish in the water since they have a (times 25 is quoted) much higher filtering capacity than traditional filters.
Since filtration and water changes are important to me (having two RTC) I am always in to find means to have a more stable water quality alltogether.
I'm building an FBF myself for the moment, but it would be nice to have some feedback based on experience.
Kind regards,
Franky
