Fish Room Arrives

Fish Room finally arrived yesterday! Here is the early stages.

I happened to notice the SA paddles standing in the corner. Persumably from your travels in Colombia, etc... It's good to see them in the fishroom.
A bit of advice, given that Mexico City is an arid regeon, keep all wooden artifacts from Colombia and Venezuala in the fishroom, you'll need to keep them in a humid environment or in very short order, the wood will dry out and crack. I lost all of my bloodwood statues from Peru due to this. Thankfully, I saved the paddles and spears I brought home by figuring this out quickly!

Paddles are, as you guessed, from various tribes I have traded with. One is from the Warao (Orinoco), One was traded in Leticia (Colombian Amazon)with a Tikuna, and the last is Yanomami (upper Orinoco) and was actually collected by a missionary that gave it to me in Caracas. It has become a kind of collection.
We are VERY careful with all wood. Not just paddles and bloodwood statues. All our furniture was made in South America!

Shane, have you got water in those boxes yet? And if the answer is no, why the heck not! How are we going to be regaled with pictures and stories of the recently collected fish if you have nowhere to put them when you get home?!?!

I finally have water in a 40 and a 10 gallon. No collecting trips yet as we have been super busy unpacking all the furniture etc as well.
On a sad note, we had a real cold snap and my livebearers and half dozen Colombian tetras all icked bad. I have lived in the tropics so long I forgot about heating tanks. It has also been years since I treated ick.
The 45 will be set up as a river tank and filled with Chaetostoma types. I have always wanted to do one of these types of tanks and was motivated after seeing Whitepine's set up this summer. I'll document the set up for the site.

So you had to put in an order for heaters? I guess that's a good enough excuse ;). I know you want something to sit on and what not, but do you REALLY need furniture when the tanks don't have water yet? I guess there might be a household revolt if you said no though ;)
