Hello I am new here and new to owning catfishes. I was just wondering what can I do to make my cat eat pellets, right now its not accepting pellets it doesnet even get near em, How do they search for food/ it seems like it has poor vision because I put in feeders and it doesnt see the unless its barbels senses it there. I want it to accept pellets instead of feeders because of the diseases that feeders carry and I dont want its tank mate ( silver aro) to be eating feedes as well.

btw its only like 4-5 inches and hasnt eaten for about 3 days since I got it

hi

i have in my time cared for a number of shovel noses
and have never had any success in getting them to take
pellet type food,, yet .. they would eat frozen sprat, white bait, and when smaller loved earthworms
there are also plenty of posts in this section of the forum that deal with problems that arise due to the husbandry requirements of these fishes, and it may be worth your while reading the posts in this forum on shovelnoses that have gone before in relation to there requirements and upkeep..

Hi,
You have the lima now for about 3 weeks; how is it coming along? Is is yet used to pellets or still reluctant?
BTW: what are you feeding your silver aro(-wana?)?

If you've just had it for a couple of days I wouldn't worry much. Fish are often slow to eat when new. I have had not probs getting them to eat. Try feeding just before (or even after) lights out. Mine particularly like the Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, Tetramin sinking tablets, and any kind of shrimp pellets. Does he have a place to "hide out"?
