Hi all,

Is it true that a healthy pleco is one which show up its dorsal fins as well as caudal fins?

How true is it that a sick pleco has its dorsal fins and caudal fins all closed up.

I know that this is often what is said, but the impression I get is that a lot of it depends on the type of pleco. My L187b are all very active an healthy, but unless are moving have "relaxed fins". I'm not 100% sure, but I would say that rule doesn't apply to all types of plecos...please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Even healthy fish like to relax there fins. As most plecs hide in rocks caves etc they fold down fins as not to damage them. Generally if a fish look lethargic and does't seem alert I would avoid it at all costs.
