Tatia perugiae breeding
Posted: 27 Jul 2006, 22:04
I have had a group of 20 Tatia perugiae, oil cats, for 4 months now. They are set up in a 20L bare bottom with potted plants, lots of driftwood, and numerous pvc and bamboo hiding spots. They are in prime condition and feed voraciously on frozen and F.D. blood worms as well as live blackworms. I have a good balance of sexes and they are all in excellent condition. Besides the 50% w/c 2-3 times a week what more should I try to stimulate spawning. The tank is set up river style with a large sponge filter driven by a 200gph powerhead. Is it known whether a smaller group would be better for breeding? I have considered isolating a couple of fat females to allow them less competion for the best hiding spot as one strategy and just assume that one or more has been fertilized. I'm open to suggestions so please shoot.
