How do you sex plecos??

Basically what the title says... ive only got the one atm, i believe its a bristlenose but has very short bristles, anyway i would love to have a mating couple. I just feel so sorry for it, i mean to pass on your genes is only normal right? if you get what i mean. Anyway im hoping to get some advice on how best to sex them so i can get one of the opposite sex. Do they have a particular fin shape or such like guppies with the anal fin?? if anone has any pictures showing female and male that'd be great to... thanks x

Well ive had a read through, im thinking mine is a female, i always thought she was, and i did call her alice, so at least i dont have to go picking a new name. Thanks again hopefuuly i can find a hansome boy to introduce her too... will let you know how i get on...
