How to Sex Peckoltia L377?

I have 2 L377 with an age of 2.5-3 Years.

They are big and round. Sometimes they cave, sometimes not. Both are about the same size of 12cm+ TL. They stopped growing about 9 month ago. At least I did not see any significant growth. So I assume they are sexually mature by now.

They don't show much odonthodal growth. Some tiny spikes on the pectorals. Some interopercularodonthodes. But none on the tail/lower body. (I know the brushes on my L204 tails - the l377 don't have any).
I am pretty sure they are both of the same sex. But I have no other peckoltias to compare. So I am pretty clueless about their genders.
They are not aggressive to each other. They eat right next to each other. Actually they are usually one of the first to show up during feeding time. Never saw them fighting over a cave. Since they are quite round and don't show any traits of a dominant male my guess would be that I have two females.
But maybe they just don't develope any odonthodes if there is no female to breed with? Or both are subdominant? How are chances the two biggest plecos in a tank are both male but niether would be dominant? (they have always been the biggest ones in the tank. They were never "supressed" by any other dominant male)

I did not manage to take them out for a shooting, yet. Could you guys give a definite sexing just by bodyshape if I caught them for some pictures?

I was able to see the vents, when they are sucking to the glass at night/morning. Judging by the vents I'd say they are males. But, well, I've been wrong before :D

If you have any good sources/pictures, whatever, please share it with me. Most of what I can find are the typically (L134) easy to sex pairs. Female fat and male hairy as hell. Neither fits on my fish, though they are in great condition and should be sexually mature. Thanks in advance!

Found some interesting info in Shanes World
When looking at a Peckoltia's genital papilla we will see that they look the opposite compared to those found in the genus Hypancistrus, a Peckoltia female have the same shape on her genital papilla as a Hypancistrus male and the Peckoltia male has the same shape as the Hypancistrus female. This is really a fascinating point and should stir up some discussion at least about the relationships between these two genera.
Can anybody confirm this? Seems strange to me, but would put my two L377 into the female bracket, just as odonthodes, behaviour and bodyshapes point to as well.

Some people claim that orange/yellow color around the vent is a female thing. (it was no pee, I double checked :D )
So at least number 2 is female?

Any speculation is welcome :D

Hi,

I would lean toward both being females personally. Though sexing plecos is not my strong point....

I don't know which sex, but they do look alike to me. And female seems like a reasonable guess.

Cheers, Eric
