Scientific Name  Corydoras imitator  (Nijssen & Isbrücker, 1983) - add this species to your "My Cats" page.
 Common Name(s)  Imitator Cory
Type Locality  Upper Rio Negro, e. Amazonas, Brazil (probably forest brooks crossing)
Pronunciation  Kory DOOR ass - IMM i tate orr
Etymology  Cory = helmet, doras = skin. In this case it was incorrectly used to mean armour (cuirasse) instead of skin in allusion to the dual rows of plates that run along the flanks of this genus. This specific epithet literally means to imitate (imitator=imitate, mimic) and refers to its likeness in appearance with the C39 species.
