| Feeding | Feeder fish sparingly and beefheart even more so. A steady diet of frozen cichlid mix or bloodworms can be used for small to medium sized individuals. Larger acclimatized fish will also take defrosted prawns. |
| Furniture | A large fairly shaded area is required for the fish to rest under although it will spend some time in the open especially when hungry. The aquarium should not be brightly lit. Owners report that this catfish also appears to like resting on broad flat stone. |
