Common Name(s) L010a, Red Lizard Catfish, Red Whiptail Catfish
Etymology Greek, rhinos = nose + Latin, lorica, loricare = cuirass of corslet of leather.

Size 110mm (4.3") SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification This red colour form is considered to be artificial although it is unclear what species or methods were used in its production. Aqualog introduced this fish with an l-number of L010a, it is very different from L010.
Sexing Males grow short spines in the top of their heads and pectoral fins.

Feeding Adaptable omnivores, these fish will eat most foods from cucumber or zucchini slices to frozen bloodworm or dry flake foods.
Furniture The fish should be provided with half-pipe type refuges which also often be used as spawning sites.
Compatibility Peaceful and not territorial.
Breeding Breeds in fairly usual Rineloricaria manner, male guards the eggs in a cave (pipe, around 25mm diameter, according to some reports).
