However only a few members seem to reali...

I take it your nitrAte test kit max's out at 100mg/l? Also what level of nitrate comes in from your tap water? Why buy an bottle of bacteria when you have a seperate mature tank? just trasfere more media from the other tanks filters. Bottled bacteria in most cases is in stasis in the bottle and take...

they came in water of a ph of 6.2 therefore if my water was to acid theres was much more I take it you tested the water in the shiping bag to get a pH reading? If so then it's unlikely that thats the actual water they are kept in by the breeder/exporter. What i mean by this is that you need to take...

LFS, who we trust 100% say the Octazin treatment is very safe and won`t harm to try. It may not harm to try but Waterlife Octozin is for treatment of hole in the head ,dropsy, Malawi bloat, whitespot and spironucleus, i very much doubt it will help. I would recommend More water changes x2 per week a...

From the same article: Developing and rearing The number of eggs will depend on the age/size of the female and the frequency of the breeding. the size of the eggs in the spawing were 3.5-4mm. The egg was initially white with a translucent shell. To date all of the eggs observed were found to be fert...

Im confused both of these tanks are not fully cycled yet you put the fish in the smallest of the two tanks were the ammonia will build up faster than in the 50 gallon. Chances are your pleco is not interested in the food due to the ammonia levels, Do more water changes to get them as low as possibe....

You could do an experiment, and buy two cheap Loricariids, two ancistrus say, and dump one straight into a tank, and acclimatize the other very slowly, say by emptying the bag into a bucket and replacing the water cup by cup over the course of a day. If only the slowly acclimatized one survives... ...

i don't know if i'm more angry with my self for taking the LFS's word that it was lime free, or with them for being so negligent. slightly off topic but: is it alwas an LFS fault if the product is faulty? isn't it the manufactures fault for selling it to the LFS as lime free gravel? Look out for BD...

any chance of a picture of the Algae, sounds like a strange request but you described a few different types of algae there. My best guess is Blanketweed. the fastest way to get rid of this algae is to remove everything with a trace of the stuff on and keep up lots of water changes for at least 4-6 w...
