Had to seperate them, they really were fighting. But they now seem to be settled into their new tanks alpha male and another male with 2 females and the beta male with 2 females. Hope they get along now. Thanks for all the help

Re: L46 Males fighting, Do I seperate?
They are in a 30gal Long tank 36 x 13 x 16. I have thought about moving them also. I know there are atleast 3 males. I just dont want to lose either an alpha or beta male. I have read that they breed better in a group, has anyone had good breeding success with just 1 male and 1 female?

Re: Using rainwater with low TDS, need to buffer?
I usually use one part marine salt, one part aquarium/rock salt, and one part epsom salt. I just watch my hardness and add accordingly depending on what you want your tds to be at. If you are going to be adding on a regular basis I would suggest that you spend the money and get a electronic tds mete...

I Would try to feed something live like whiteworms or blackworms if you are feeding them to your discus, frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp could work also. I would guess you have some of them for yoru discus, but also if you havent tried the repashy gel food, def try it, my goldnuggets love it. I fe...

Re: L600 F1 P. leopardus For Sale
Highly recommend going especially if you have fish to sell. The transport isnt too rough, depending on water quality they usually adjust pretty well to the water and if you ask the people at the convention they should be able to sell you what the water parameters are and may even have it on their we...

Re: killer snails eating my L134 eggs?
My regular ramshorn are Helisoma trivolvus the red variety that you had first, not the larger striped kind. I have snails in every tank that I own except one. I also have the smaller brown black style (Physa 2 different sp) and also Melanoides the MTS snails. While doing research on snails we found ...

Re: killer snails eating my L134 eggs?
Not sure about the assassins but I had regular ramshorn snails in my tank to reduce the hardness. I have seen them eat partially developed eggs that they somehow managed to get at the eggs after I scared the male off to check on them he must have not got back to them quick enough. I'd make sure you ...

If you can catch them and take a look at them. The Back to Nature Guide by Ingo Seidel has a good picture of a male and female in it. I have a group of 12 and most of mine are hiding in caves but only a few exhibit the male hanging out of the cave or fanning while releasing their pheromones. Once yo...

Re: Want to get into pleco breeding, have questions
Definately start with common bristlenose (ancistrus). They easy to breed and can be done with a pair in a 10gal tank, or even a community tank. Most have been captive breed and can breed in pretty much any water quality. Good luck!!!

Re: My new Dekeyseria brachyura L 168
One on right definately looks male. It is extremely hard to tell on these guys because they both have odontal and pectoral growth. The rounded body, and larger head helps but I have had a hard time telling mine apart until they laid eggs. At full size males are larger but not by much atleast from my...

Yes they are safe. They are slate style Pennsylvania blue stone broken apart from one large piece. They have settled in and 2 of them have taken residence up in their caves, now just trying to get them conditioned and ready to breed.

Thanks for the input, planning on keeping them together then. Is 8 years old too old to have good breeding results? Everything I read says 10-15 years lifespan. Has anyone else got zebras to spawn when they were this age? Thanks again.

Re: How to solve ichthyophthirius multifiliis in L-numbers
When you don't want to use medication, just raise the temperature to 30C and add sea salt (1,5 grammes per liter) to your tank. Dissolve the salt first in a bucket and then slowly add it to the tank. You should see the fishes getting better after some days. I agree with mark. I add a total of 1 tab...
