nice job ! Thanks for letting us know. Don't forget the de-shelled peas once in a while too, to keep him cleaned out.

What, no room for a blue phantom ? Time to get another tank \:d/

Re: My Tank

looks pretty good, love the wood! Only thing IMO that would add a nice touch would be some moss on the tall branch, or some floating/dangling plants that hang down, or just leave it as is, it is very nice already. Georgie

Re: L-200 Hemiancistrus subviridis, sunken eyes, not eating

oh, that is good , he is on his way ! continue with the raw zucchini for at least a week or more, then you can begin to introduce new veggies, remembering you may need to start the same process all over again, or he may just realize whatever comes in the tank at night on your "clip" means ...

Re: L-200 Hemiancistrus subviridis, sunken eyes, not eating

hi, yeah, I do cut into thin strips, however some people slice it like disks. Dosen't matter how,I just like to avoid the seeds getting in my filters. Hard to say how much , for me I just stick a piece about an inch for the little guy and a few inches thinly sliced for the bigger one. They eat what ...

Re: L-200 Hemiancistrus subviridis, sunken eyes, not eating

good to hear ,at least he took a nibble. Continue to put in raw zucchini, a strip , perhaps peel some skin off, but leave some skin on, he may have a preference. One of my blue phantoms goes for the skin only, the other goes for the inside first, then does some work on the skin. It dosen't need to be...

Re: L-200 Hemiancistrus subviridis, sunken eyes, not eating

sounds like you are doing everything right for him. Were you able to get some ''garlic guard'' or similar from your aquatic store ? It really does stimulate their appetite. I had more luck with that than real garlic, don't know why. As for sweet potato , my blue phantoms won't touch it, however, if ...

Re: L-200 Hemiancistrus subviridis, sunken eyes, not eating

also, not sure about L200's but I do know that L128's must have a lot of oxygen, so I keep my water level lower than rim with 2 HOB's and have 2 air stones in there too. as mentioned above, no shrimp or meaty foods for these guys as can cause bloat. I imagine some keepers do give protien, but I play...

Re: L-200 Hemiancistrus subviridis, sunken eyes, not eating

hi, I have 2 blue phantoms , which are basically the same as far as needs go. They don't need protien in their diets, they need veggies. To get them to eat veggies, try starting with zucchini, skin on sliced , raw. I had to start one of my L128's on veggies by using garlic guard, the liquid, scored ...

Re: L190 - effects of PH crash

Glad to hear you can keep it stable with the coral and oyster. I have 7.9 tap water , but it dive bombs quickly , especially with the large wood I have, so had to resort to chiclid gravel, that is why I mentioned it. The crushed coral wasn't holding it long enough for me. Georgie

hi, sorry to hear of your loss. Just wanted to mention , I too have probs keeping my ph up to my preference of 6.8.Especially with the wood in the tanks. glad to hear he is back to his normal color. If it happens again, try to see if there is a stress factor , then you can eliminate other nasties. One thing I noticed you said was you have 2 pair, and not sure ,but one male will try to be dominate to get both females sometimes, so this guy could be ge...

do you think you can get a piece of wood in there (if you have L#'s. some need wood ),and it makes great hidy places.

Nice job with the plants, wish I could keep plants looking so good ! thanks for the update.

Re: L183 turning white?

hi, some IP's you will see in the poo. I noticed some clear segments of poo in my dither fish , so I treated for IP's. I have 2 L128's in this tank. I am really not familiar with all types of IP's, so perhaps other members can be more informative. One thing to mention, I have a 5" L128 who went...

Re: My 30" Tank

I like how you have the slate slightly tucked into the substrate. Looks natural that way ! Do you think you could add a wider plant or perhaps a piece of wood in front of the filter to hide it better? just imo, otherwise nice, and more plants will be great . Thanks for sharing. Georgie

right, I have tried same . One note, if you are going to get silk plants, get them from a fish store so you know there are no toxins in the dye. Aquarium safe silk plants are easy to clean, just ask my farlowella :-BD ,but seriously, yeah i am sure a light scrub with old tank water would do the tric...

hi, usually fish hang at top due to lack of oxygen and or amonia. Plecs are bottom dwellers by nature and ( they must have hidy places ie wood or caves so they are comfortable). Sounds like you need more air stones and get the amonia down to 0 via wc's. There is a great site here "CATALOG"...

Re: ancistrus hangin out at the top

add air stone check that some fish is not dead in some corner .. change 50% water this is a definite , a dead fish could be causing 'some amonia" and fish need 0 amonia. If the cause is not from a dead fish in the tank, could be when u added the new guys, the biofilter needs to catch up. So,mor...
