Re: Is pet insurance worth the money? Who here has it?

Depends who you ask and the value you place on your pet. I have 2 dogs and both are insured. The first one cost £6000 in year one and £4000 in year 2. He has had 3 stable years and is now back in care. Cost of insurance is lower than the cost of the vets so far. That said he has required 20x the pri...

Re: Keeping Fish is never Quite easy

Sadly kit is built to fail. Older kit seems to have a much better life span. Used JBL externals for over 4 years few problems. But switched over to HMF and sponge filter combo as find it less hassle. (JBL can't be held responsible for puppy damage) Only thing I chew up now is an air pump about once ...

Re: Rare/Unusual Cats For Sale

Hi Martin, Do you still have the 5 x Tatia musaica and are you ever near the QE2 Bridge area? Been tempted by these for awhile and have been putting it off as life has been a bit manic, but saw your post and know time is running out on these. I'm hoping they would be okay with my group of 4x Tatia pu...

Fish Planner

Hi All, Thanks for taking the time to read this. I've been keeping fish for over 15 years and have reasonable success with it. I keep tropical and more basic species but have learned allot along the way. I accept I still have lots to learn because the world never stops it changes all the time and im...

Re: HMF & Catfish

It was about an inch up and 2cm in from the bottom of the hmf sheet. I've never seen catfish catch before on my 30ppi sheets. I don't know if it snagged a little and in distress drove deeper in till if finally passed away. It took me 5 minutes to pull tease it out and left a small hole in the sheet....

HMF & Catfish

I made the switch to HMF and foam filters awhile ago and have been very happy with them. Today however is a sad day as my adult female farlowella was a casulity of the filter and her getting spooked. So to hopefully have no one else have same issue something spooked her and she ran into the foam so ...

Re: Does anyone use Marineland canister filters?

I know the old school eheim went forever. I bought a eco and it broke down just out of warranty. It was cleaned regularly and pipe cleaned. Hagen I believe now own them so the quality of old may have gone a little. I used JBL as lower wattage but they are heavy on cleaning. Something to consider whe...

Re: 5 x Trachelyichthys exilis

New year and having had a little dig appears these would be okay to join my oil cats in a 3ft. Don't suppose if I pay for petrol a delivery could be arranged at a weekend to suit you? I'm next to the Dartford Toll / QE2 bridge post code starts DA1. Happy to pay via PayPal to assure you won't have a ...

Re: Fish Quality

Still on hunt but did go out again. Fish generally in better shape this time but just couldn't stomach the price being asked or why they were so white washed and all appeared to be male. I felt £8 each for non adult peppered corys was just to much. Couldn't see the tummies on the clown plecos so was...

Re: Anyone Done Peat and HMF filter combination

Well I went with complete over kill. The tanks have running a while and seem stable. Foam filters cleaned as needed. Water change 50% once a month and the white bags are JBL bionitratex packets. Fish seem happy colours are good. The big black blob on the smaller tank is a visible fish mate F14 auto ...

Fish Quality

I admit I am not the greatest at my fish keeping but have learned allot the hard way over the years. Lately I seem to be having a really hard time going to shops and actually buying anything (Yes this is odd as I have plenty of space for the right sized fish). My first issue is am looking to buy a g...
