Re: 40 Gallon Community
yea thats a shame. i cant really lower heat because of L260. its not the best environment for BN plecos either but they have been doing ok. my remaining neons are doing well. we will see if the temps will affect their life span. they are active for now. the cardinal is fine too. i am hoping diamond ...

Re: Nitrate
what, 0 nitrates hardly be possible? whenever you run a heavily planted tank such as iwagumi or any dutch style, and you dose correctly you will have 0 nitrate. just don't overstock the fish.
you end up having a very nice planted tank with extremely clean water.

Re: Bristlenose Breeding and some questions.
why do vertical spawning setups? it traps dirt at the bottom and is a bit unhygienic for the eggs. in a horizontal setup the male can sweep any waste out easily.

sell on Aquabid if you know you can safely ship him to the buyer. if not then find a local aquarium club and see if anyone wants him. if not then see if a near by local fish store will take him off your hands.

because my neons are huge, probably the jumbo variety (1.5"-2" in size) and the angel never chases them. before i lost a neon i'd always see sores on it's body and to my understanding it's neon tetra disease. nothing i did helped the neons. so far i have two neons that are holding on, and ...

Re: Pleco disease?
lymph viral infections do indeed look like this. i think thats what the plecos in this thread have. http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2930 there is no known cure from what i've gathered. and it is pleco specific. different viral strains which explains why all lymphocystis cases do no...

yea just keep up the water changes and be patient. eventually it will clear up and fish will stop dying and your tank should finish cycling.

Re: L180, sexing help-
that could actually be a female, but we'll have to wait and see. give a few months to a year and see if more bristles grow and if it slims out. females tend to stay fat and wide males slim out a lot. also males will start to grow bristles on the upper surface of the face/forehead too.

Re: Murky 10gal starter tank
your tank is still cycling. murky water is a bacterial bloom in the water. normal for cycling tanks.
get a test kit and tell us the water levels for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

idk for sure but they should be the spine-shaped outgrowths on the plecos' plates. so they appear as long hairs on the fin rays and body. they are probably tough and sharp.

thanks! I love corydoras too and would have a whole school of sterbai or pandas but i am afraid they would starve out my L260 plecos, so i decided not to get cories. i am only keeping this little pygmy cory because he isn't going to steal much food

Re: Fat Bristlenose Pleco
sounds like bloat to me. if its a female it could be because of egg binding or w/e. When i see bloat I try to treat it. i really don't want to lose my BN plec, especially since i am fond of him and i promised someone that nothing bad would happen to him. i was so confident that i sold off two possib...
