Rineloricaria or Hemiloricaria spp. ?
I'm not too good at id-ing these guys.
I wish you the best of luck finding out what they are though, they're certainly quite pretty.

Re: Unidentified Pleco in Tank!
Bristlenoses () should be fine with danios and shrimp. They are armour plated and most fish tend to leave them alone.

Re: Stocking A 50 Gallon Lowboy
If you want upside down catfish that depends on if you want the asian USD or the african USD, as for pictus cats I've successfully kept a lone individual for a few years now and it seems to be doing fine. Obviously a group is better though.

if you're considering fishing nets you can get rubber ones that don't scrape off the fish's slime and injure it.

Cool looking fish! Do you know the scientific name? Something that good looking might be worth considering adding to my tank.

Re: Tank recommendations
Corys are a schooling fish so keeping 4-6 or more of them is preferable. If you have sand that's good but fine gravel won't kill them. Bogwood is fine as well but they wont love it like plecos do. They do like plants as well if you have any of those. As to tankmates, most smaller peaceful fish like ...

I've seen wild Tandanus Tandanus and they did look very similar. They were a bit darker though.

Re: Feeding Juvenile Striped Raphael Catfish
I have 2 raphaels and regarding their diet, they eat mainly pellets and algae wafers. From what I've noticed of their feeding habits, they tend to just wolf down any food that goes near them if they're in the mood( half the food they eat isn't even meant for them!) and will just keep on eating until...

I think 1 and 5 seem to have much flatter heads than 2,3 and 4.

Re: Week end Treat.
I wasn't aware that plecos actually ate snails. Considering their diets and the behaviour of mine though I can see how this would be possible.

It is difficult to make out from the photo but it looks like a pictus catfish, pimelodus pictus. To be absolutely sure a better photo will be needed though.

Re: Mystus leucophasis advice
You could try Yoyo loaches, mine keep fine with cichlids and semi-aggressive catfish. The only problem with them though is that they'll take a while to grow to size as it's hard to find big ones for sale normally.

Re: New guy. Looking for advice on what type of cats to put in my 55 gal
I agree with fat meloe!, regular plecos are best avoided. Raphael catfish are quite sedate most of the time but be careful with the size of the cories you put them with. They will eat anything near the size of their mouths but they are normally quite slow.

I don't know if this helps but I've seen Pictus cats (Pimelodus Pictus) grow to about a foot and mine shoal nicely. They do tend to stay near the bottom though.

Nice tank! Try corys with the discus if you haven't figured out what to do otherwise.

How fast is the jaguar? I know the pictus is a high speed swimmer from experience but I've never kept jaguars. The pictus grows to a bit less than half the size of the jaguar from what I know.

Re: Are these baby Sabaji Plecos?!
They don't look like baby plecos to me. But then again I'm not an expert on plecos and havn't kept much more than bristlenoses and gold spots. to me it looks like a parasite or skin condition.I had something similar looking on on of my Pictus cats a few months back. After dosing the tank with the ne...
