I have been thinking of changing to sand for quite some time but was wondering about what to place under the sand for the plants to bed in. Anyone want to respond?

Looks like silurus has hit the nail on the head, the pink only seems to be present on the lower part of the body near the internals. It is not present to the eye on the dorsal areas. You definetly have a rare one as it is not an albino, one of my pet peevs is the albino cats.I can't stand the albino...

good excuse

I know what you are going through. I had my trilinius spawn once and was not able to rescue the little ones in time. The one thing I promised to have in place next time was a tank in place to remove the adults to, and here is the best thing about the whole incident. It gave me a really good excuse t...

One thing I have always wondered, will the live foods (i.e. the worms) be able to live and breed in the tank?

ideas for tank setups

Hi all:
One of the things I am interested in is the set up of tanks especially for cory's. Is there a section or site that hosts photos and descriptions of tanks where one can get ideas?

I had this problem with some trilinius, I tried every test to figure out why it was happening and this is the first explanation that fits. It was mentioned to agitate or place the new fish in another container prior to introduction to the new tank, could you explain this process further?

Peat?
is that for the root structure of the plants?
Wouldn't break down over time?
As for the panaque, i learned my lesson with a pleco that I nicknamed the 'bulldozer'.

strata in the tank

Hi All: I am creating a new tank especially for my catfish and was wondering about the strata. I thought that the natural habitate for cory's is mainly sandy and was thinking of going this route but my source of information at the pet shop (believe it or not a marine biologist) told me that sand was...
