Re: Both bought a Akysis prashadi. Are they the same species?
I'm so glad these are doing well for you Eric! Happy that I could help you find what you were looking for. Very interesting to see the variation amongst your group. All the fish and snails I brought back made it. In fact, the ramshorns spawned last night. Did all of your whiptails make it as well? I...

Re: First flowering for me
Very nice, A beautiful specimen you have there!
I have personally had A. barteri and A. congenis flower in my tanks. I have similarly found that soft water seems to make them happy.
Almost all aquatic plants flower (to an extent) when in the correct conditions.
Cheers,
Sean

Re: ID this catfish
I would agree with @bekateen on the ID. The whole concept of exploiting live animals for views on the internet seems quite popular now. I prefer to stay away from most "fish youtubers" as a lot of them are quite abusive toward their animals. Don't get me wrong, there is a small list of peo...

Beautiful fish! Hopefully you can set the strain. I have a handful of Duringlanis romani that are leucistic as well and look almost identical in coloration to this fish! Good luck!

Sorry for the late response, I didn't see your original reply until it was bumped up to the top of the forum today. Congrats! You are only the third person to ever spawn these! It sucks your's were infertile, they will spawn again though. Just for your future reference, I'm currently feeding them se...

Re: Whats this woodcat?
The photos of macracathus in the Cat-elog do look similar to what i would call B. sp. peru. The truth is I have never actually seen a confirmed macracanthus in person. The photos in Steve's book of what he calls macracanthus are very different from anything else I have seen. I have been working on t...

I believe those are Balroglanis Sp. Peru.
I know the guy that runs that place. He has helped me get some pretty unique woodcats!

Re: Finally! A Tatia gyrina spawn!
After keeping almost 20 woodcat species I wouldn't recommend keeping them on pellets. These are the only wild fish that have spawned on pellets for me. I recommend bloodworms, I keep every last Tatia species i'm trying to breed on bloodworms. Yes, I do know what the trigger was, and it wasn't suppos...

Finally! A Tatia gyrina spawn!
Hello all, today I was vacuuming debris out of a large plant in my 150 gallon community tank when I slurped out some woodcat eggs. There are only T. gyrina in this tank! The eggs might be about 3 days old, and by the time I got them all into the basket almost all of the about 35 eggs had hatched! I ...

Re: Woodcats spawning at a young age
Ok, it must be the season changing or something, my F-1 T. intermedia just spawned. Total spawns from juveniles in this thread: D. romani F-2 ~7 months, 3 spawns already ~1/day at this point D. Perugiae F-2 ~7 months, 3 spawns already T. intermedia F-1 ~9 months, 1 spawn I am quite happy a group of ...

Well, I guess I spoke too soon in my last post about D. romani. They just spawned today. Now I officially have 8 tanks of woodcats spawning :YMPARTY: Maybe If I say my T. intermedia growouts will be next I will have the same luck? :)) Cheers! -- Sean (Note: The romani are about 7 months old as well)

Re: Woodcats spawning at a young age
Well, maybe it wasn't a one time fluke. I left about 3-4 eggs in the cave for the female to guard so I didn't stress her too much. She is still on them today, low and behold a cave to the right has a spawn from a different female, I have to do a water change today anyway, I hope this doesn't trigger...

@characinkid Maybe you could be of use here since I remember you talking about this before. Re: Super Equis corydora?
I am by no means an expert. I have an eques cory that I purchased a few years ago from a lfs. It was labelled "super eques". The story on the name is that the deeply colored specimens are labelled "super" and the brightly colored specimens aren't. I believe that Jools is right an...

I just wanted to provide a quick update on these. I have officially had them for 51 weeks and they have certainly matured. I have only been seeing males so I have been quite frightened by the fact I might not have a viable group. Today, assuming they were all males, I was planning on adding my colon...

Re: L134 or Not?
I doubted the possibility of Peckoltia and Hypancistrus spawning together. I do happen to have 6 large L450 (from a different source of course), however the pattern and coloration still doesn't match up, maybe it is just because it is a juvenile? I will try to track down the guy who bred them and se...

Re: L134 or Not?
Update! I originally purchased this fish from a local shop who obtained it from a breeder. After tracking him down, they figured out that there were only two plecos in the tank that this juvenile was produced from... A single male L134, and a Female L066. I had no idea it was even scientifically pos...

@Jools, I would love to work with you on this project. For a bit more background, originally this project was created to compare spot-size in D. cf. perugiae, however it has now started to expand. @fishguy1978 Thanks for the photos, Your T. gyrina is gonna be F0 unless you purchased it from Jeremy Basch a few years back, because those were the only Captive ones ever sold. Thanks for the reply! What I am really trying to do here is to accumulate as many high-quality photos as possible. I posted earlier in this thread that my Gulper catfish have a form of fin erosion which includes their spines. This erosion looks incredibly similar to fishguy1978's musaicia. Hi! This is very interesting. I currently own this species of wood cat, however, I have never observed this with them. I do have 3 Asterophysus batrachus with fin erosion of similar appearance. Definatley not a T. intermedia, Based on the anal fin definitely a Trachelyopterus. The Jaw-shape in T. galeatus is very unique and is an identifying feature. Your's appears to display this. I just purchased 7 L471 that should be arriving tomorrow. (and a few dozen more Hypans) I can't wait to work with this species, glad to hear more and more people are spawning some of the lesser-known Hypancistrus.
