Re: is this a Synodontis Longirostris?

Agreed it s a hybrid - additionally hybrids passed off as the genuine thing command high prices which should not be applicable to a hybrid fish. In the UK as a rough example a longirostris might cost £60, but a hybrid should be nowhere near that figure

Can you guys tell me what is the lifespan of the Lucipinnis? Do they live over 10 years?
Yes they do, double that is realistic

Re: Vulture/bolt/juruense/jaguar questions

the vulture can occasionally turn nasty & take chunks out of tankmates when least expected. Bolt & Jury both relatively docile in a well fed captive environment. Jags ultimately too small.

Great tank size proposed & i'd suggest (long term) removal of all except the vulture & get a group of these.

Re: Adding a Golden Nugget Pleco Into My New Aqaurium

Gold Nuggets often suffer on import & there is a lot poor quality fish out there. Try to buy from a respected source & get fish that have been wormed already & that have settled & are feeding well without being hollow bellied. Offer a good mixed range of food with a slightly higher temperature than ...

Re: petro or luci....again

How big are these exactly (SL)? They are not what i'd call typical of either species - image 2 in cat-e-log for petricola shows the broad head & many fine body spots - this is not as obvious when the fish is smaller. Some Lucipinnis have smaller dots on the head & the definitive way to differentiate...

Re: Doradid - Not sure what

If this fish grow s to 8.3" & is 7" already surely it is an adult rather than juvenile? I think c.crocodili has a longer flatter adipose & eyes more towards the top of the head rather than the small rounded adipose & eyes on the side of the head.

Do we know the provenance of the fish?
