Re: What Do you Feed Your Cory Fry after Hatching?
after hatching, they will not feed for a few days till they absorb their yolk sacks. for multiple egg layers like bronze, peppered, sterbai etc..., I start off with microworms and then feed small grindel worms when they are big enough (around 1week) for single egg layers (pandas, duplicareus, weitzm...

Re: corydoras and gravel/sand
if you keep the sand depth at ~1cm, you don't really need to clean it, the corys sifting will keep the sand healthy.

Re: Best Corydoras Foods
my corys and other fish get New Life Spectrum thera pellet foods as their staple. I aslo feed live grindal/white worms fed on instand oatmeal. They go crazy for the live worms, digging their snouts deep in the sand :d IF you intend on starting a live grindal/white worm culture, look up how to cultur...

Re: Otocinclus attacking pepper cats
yep, my otos try to suck the body slime off my corys but only during feeding time. Fortunately the corys will shake them off so I'm not too worried. If the otos stay on for some time, you should remove them.

Re: Cory and smooth gravel bottom?
Is it a mature tank/filter? if it is you shouldn't have problems with ammonia. I'll be doing a major change of tanks soon (moving substrate, fish and decorations to a newer tank) and here's my plan. 1) get a spare tank or any type of temporary container 2) fill this spare tank/container with water f...

If that is your whole group, there doesn't seem like a fat plump female. Feed them heavily on FBW and especially live worms (white or black). Need to get the females nice and fat first

odd duplicareus fry
Collected 3 eggs from my mix cory tank a few months ago while doing maintenance. Not sure which corys they were until they developed their markings. upto this stage, it looks like a duplicareus fry: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v474/vf1a/duplifry2.jpg but after further maturity, something odd, ...

Re: Corydoras fowleri not eating dry foods
Their first spawning resulted in all infertile eggs. Their second time, there were fertile eggs and they hatched a few days ago. For such big corys, their fry are similar in size to other multi egg layers (sterbai, bronze etc..) Here's a pic of a fry, the plant is a piece of taiwan moss. http://img....

I've not witnessed any agression from my fowleri even during spawning. I do see one of the males chase the female weitzmani on occasion though, but nothing serious

Re: Corydoras fowleri not eating dry foods
A question for the cory experts, can someone tell me if these are fowleri/coriate or semiaquilus? My amateur eyes think they are not semiaquilus because they don't have as much black markings? These also came from a Peru exporter and were listed as Huanta.

Re: Corydoras fowleri not eating dry foods
Couldn't get them to accept any dry food, so I decided to move them out of my 30gal mixed cory tank and into their own 20gal tank for easier feeding. After 3 weeks of feeding heavily on white worms, fbw and cherry shrimps, they decided to spawn

with the thicker black band on the back, they are duplicareus. Are adolphoi considered rarer? because I prefer duplicareus over adolphoi

Re: Please help my Corys keep dieing
An alternative to sand is very fine gravel, grain sizes around 1mm. This is what I use in my cory tanks, and I've experienced no barbel loss, the corys can dig in it and it's heavier than sand so not as messy.

Corydoras fowleri not eating dry foods
I recently acquired 6 WC C. fowleri, they are big 3-4", probably adults. They dwarf my biggest adult sterbai. This might be the reason they are not eating the dry foods. I've tried NLS pellets and earth worm flakes, they show absolutely no interest. The only thing they've eaten are cherry shrim...

I use frogbit instead, it's much larger than duckweed so you can control it no problem and it doesn't get stuck in your fitler or tank decorations.

Just wanted to share a vid of my recent weitzmani spawning activity. Didn't really have to do anything special, just had to move them to their own 20gal tank and they started spawning in the next 3 days. enjoy

Re: Are the Corys DONE breeding, or AREN'T they???
from my experience, a cory spawning session lasts a few hours, it's ok to retrieve the eggs during the spawning session if you're afraid they will be eaten. They'll get scared for a few minutes but will resume spawning. I do this with my pandas because they are vigorous egg eaters! I recently spawne...
