Re: 2 Days to go
Yeah pretty much what Mat said.
I use HMA instead of a chlorinator. I can also control the TDS by mixing the HMA back into the RO and using a flow control giving me full control over the TDS

Re: 2 Days to go
Good points rhibear and Grokefish.
I will get my lazy arse to set up the RO system again over the weekend. I use extract on my apisto,s to lower ph after having problems with eggs not hatching so maybe its the same/simillar thing.

Re: 2 Days to go
Surely you mean 80'F (26.7'C) - not 80'C, as that would be more suitable for poaching the fish, rather than keeping them alive! And it shows that you can breed fish in pretty hard/alkaline water, despite their natural habitat being pretty soft/acidic. -- Mats Yeah sorry Mat its 80'F but you knew th...

Just got back from a weekend break and fully expected to be cleaning out a load of fungused eggs from the fry trap but to my amazement I have 20 or so strong and healthy wrigglers.

Re: 2 Days to go
The last lot of eggs are now in a trap. Maybe 50-70ish. Only one of these has hatched out since I have come home and it looks very week and hardly no movement at all http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k240/thegeeman123/DSCF7086.jpg http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k240/thegeeman123/DSCF7086-1.jpg An...

Re: 2 Days to go
Not good news I am afraid. He has kicked whats left of the eggs out (50ish) all though they look fertile they dont seem to be able to hatch out and are dying off as they hatch. Still really chuffed with the weeks events and hopefully I will have a more promising spawn very soon Thanks for all the po...

Re: L-270 Breeding
Congratulations on your spawn 8) Apistomaster, I have expierienced the total opposite to you when it comes to rearing fry. I normally remove mine into a fry trap after 2 days of hatching out. Once the have lost their egg sac I started to feed them crushed pellets for 2 weeks before putting them back...

Looks correct to me. Some of the pics of L309 in the Cat-eLog also have yellow on the fins. Thanks Silurus. Yeah I noticed on some of the pics they had a slight tinge of yellow to them. I was thinking maybe they lose the yellow with age but the ones I have are 4" TL so not so sure. Cheers theg...
