Re: Just saying hi! (And help)
instead of removing the females, remove the male. If he is fanning, he should be far easier to remove.

Re: Help with chosing plecos
You have fish that die due to receiving diets they aren't supposed to consume. Herbivore plecos have a hard time breaking down everything in a protein based food, and same for the reverse. The advice given is best. Just because you want to keep 5 species in one tank does not mean it is what's best f...

Re: South American Catfishes for a 20 long.
Oilcats, from my experience, are social fish and like to be in groups. Can the one be fine alone for a bit, yes, but i would recommend adding others when available. I wouldn't recommend clown plecos in that tank. Most woodeaters (panaque panaquolus) have a heavy bioload and the sawdust in teh tank m...

i like Shane's suggestion. I would aim for 6 oto, 6 corydoras and 12 neon tetras (of a species: black, green, regular neon, etc.)

whatever it is, I got 12 in my tank that look almost identical. Mine supposedly came from Peru though (though distribution could still be the same fish.)

Re: Natural habitatfor Otos?
Thank you everyone.. this is now what i was looking for :) I just like more natural habitats in all my tanks.. if they didn't come from planted areas and were stuck to wood primarily, then that is what i would do :) you guys are all great! Sorry if my comment in the middle seemed off the wall. I had...

Re: Natural habitatfor Otos?
you guys are all focusing more on the breeding, that was just a single comment about the breeding tanks I have seen, i am not intending to breed, its strictly for show as a natural looking habitat for them. If they breed, great, if they don't, i dont care. I am more looking for what is a natural hab...

Natural habitatfor Otos?
Hey Guys, I am in the process of planning an oto habitat (not neccesarilly biotope with regards to plants and co-inhabitants) tank. Most tanks i see for oto breeding are heavily planted, while some of the "biotope" tanks I have seen were just branches with dead leaves. Any suggestions abou...

MMORPG(? is that right?) ... surprisingly, that is the best hobby I have. I also have been painting models (Gundam) and working on making different things out of metal.. all things I can do relatively cheaply before my move!

Re: Heading to Sweden.. Any Fish Stores?
Thank you.. my significant other who lives there isn't big into fish, but she enjoyed going through stores while here, visiting the aquariums and liked how my tank looks. We are going to try one tank to start, and if everything goes well, then add to it. She knows how much fun I have with the fish (...

Heading to Sweden.. Any Fish Stores?
So, I am heading to Sweden in 2 weeks from today. I will be there 9 days. I fly into Stockholm (Arlanda(sp?) airport). We are taking a train back to Borlänge and that is where I will be visiting. I was wondering if there are any fish places near Borlänge or near the airport in Sweden? I am moving th...

I am looking for freeze dried ants to feed my microglanis. I remember about 10 years ago I was able to find some, but am having issues now. Does anyone know of a place to get some now that would be great.

Re: Another case of buyer beware in big chain pet stores
we have a local store/chain (not big box, but there are like 5 total in our state) and I was in there getting dog food at the time and I always browse the fish. There was a man and his 10 yr old son.. buying fish for a 10 gallon fish tank. THey asked about algae control and what could live in a 10 g...

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
your numbers per species baffle me. For a fish that isn't common in the trade, why only get 2? you should try to breed them to make them more readily available for US hobbyists. IMO, i would have gone with one species of catfish and a larger group (say 6+) in hopes of breeding, rather than 2-3 speci...

These fish aren't for people on a budget. Wild caught fish tend to run $70+ per fish last i encountered them. Tank bred fish will probably demand similar prices as they will be more stable than a wild caught fish.
