Holly? it's evergreen and you can prune it it also carries a lot of berries which the birds will love another bush, but you got to 'fix it' to the wall would be Pyracantha or Firethorn it keeps the leaves, except in extremely severe winters, it has massive white blooms which smell great and red berr...

Re: what are some good medications so have on hand?

I bought myself a huge bucket of "marine salt", don't know if this is what you mean by aquarium salt; but it's the stuff used for marine tanks, so it's likely the same thing and yes, to avoid messing up, i did buy it at a store specialized in marine fish keeping it'll probably lasts a long...

that's climate change for you, all the extremes will occur more often time and again I run into discussions with people who don't believe in climate change (they think it's a "leftist hobby" or conspirancy of the government for more tax), because they see things like this as an argument th...

Google Darien Gap and motorcycle..wow. Lots of riders have done it but nooo thank you. I wouldn't say 'lots". most links are different versions of the same story or lead to nothing or failed attempts. I'd say a handful acvtually tried it, few made it through on the bike and not an unsignifican...

Re: a new tank: rheophile catfish species of Rio Tocantins

update on the tank: so far it looks like all fish are settling in just nicely the Retroculus behave like I'm used to; quite active and they''re not so much into dry food, they prefer to pound down loads of unfrozen stuff, mysis, mosquito larvae, artemia etc. I only recently found out that I was wron...

Re: 270L Cube: Hara Minuscula, Shrimps, +X?

I don't know if a constant temperature of 25'C isn't too hard on Hara; most species prefer non heated tanks at room temperature. if you like the "Amano styled" tanks with lots of plants and tiny shrimps, I think this catfish fits the bill and unlike most Hara's this one likes slowmoving wa...

Re: ID my Silurid catfish

K macrocephalus should have a tiny minuscule 'spine' that is in fact a rudimentary dorsal fin

if it hasn't got even that, it rules out that species.

what is his size?

Re: NO one can tell me what he is?

I disagree the macrocephalus has a "hump" and this fish does not; also the macrocephalus has a high-build more laterally flattened body; this catfish is more tube-shaped. also; this fish has no markings, no spots and no stripes; the macrocephalus is either mottled or striped, but not unifo...

Re: Hand feeding pimelodus ornatus

patience, young jedi first let the fish get used to the tank and what goes around it then let them appear at feeding time after they do show up at feeding time, you can try to handfeed them but start too soon or force it and you'll just end up with stressed-out fish that are afraid to eat...... IMO ...

this time they managed to get the fins properly, but the stubby body and the ocellated marks are all wrong

I have seen granny's with dark barbels.... the fins look OK to me and spots do occur in young granny's. but the mouth is odd...... it's far too wide for a granny, it looks like someone tried a polli-granny mix up. the granulosa has the "regular" mouthshape like many riverines and also the ...
